Leather sailing boots

Where did you get the leather ones? How much, are they waterproof?

they are from Botalo, a French company. I just checked the model name is Fypper, I had Fypper first version and the recent ones are slightly different, Fypper2 price about 200e (about the same I paid years ago).
The leather is very good, just rinse from time to time if salt traces appear over it, let dry and apply some fat/cream/wax/whatever, something I do maybe once a year. I never tested them constantly underwater for days, but I constantly wore them for days and -apart from the disgusting smell when eventually taken off- they felt very comfortable and they were not deformed (as they say sweat is leather worst enemy).
I fancy some taller ones, arriving at the base of the knee: they made some a long time ago I bought one pair but the quality was poor, these Fypper are much better.

Indoor sports, wash your mouth out with beach ?

In all seriousness, though you may have no interest in indoor courts sports, the shoes (volleyball and squash) are in the same vein as deck shoes and some people swear by them. That does not mean they play indoor sports.

I wear trainers on deck as I think sailing boots look a bit odd, and I wear wellingtons if I have to use the dinghy. I don't stand outside in the rain in the cockpit though because I have a small wheelhouse which is great for all year sailing.

Combined with waterproof socks (Gill makes really nice cols weather ones), trainers or deck shoes are all most sailors need. They also make boot height.

Last year I had my 20 year old Dubarry boots relined and re-soled in the factory for 50 Euro. Good for another 20.

New Dubarry's are rubbish. Same absorbident price but cheap molded soles that they won't service.

Don’t blame you. Probably the biggest USP of Dubarry was their ability to be resolved. They still carry the price premium but no longer the feature.
As I suggested earlier, take a look at Quayside as I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I bought a pair of gul boots that look and feel similar to Dubbarrys, but half the price
