Does anyone know of a sure fix for a leaking (30 x 90) fender? The leak is 'midships' and probably caused by a heater outlet.

I my yoof we had red plastic footballs. When they got a puncture there was a metal gadget bit like a soldering iron with a flat end and you just heated it up and melted the area by the hole. I can almost smell it now 50 years on.

How about that glue that you stick drainpipes together with. Solvent Cement? Just a guess.

The only way I have ever fixed one is to open my wallet and buy a new one................I have tried with a hot knife to seal a leak but it did not look very pretty....................

...not so sure about the young, but at least with an inner tube and a John Bull puncture kit I would have got a result!
Progress eh..

what are fenders made of anyway? Is it PVC? How do you join PVC - is it by melting as I would have guessed from the fenders that have leaned against my Mikuni heater? :(

Find the leak by standing on it to increase pressure and a soapy sponge.
Get a hot glue gun and force it into the hole.
Squeeze loads of glue into the fender.
Fender needs to be upside down.
Pull glue gun out and stick a temperary gaffer tape patch over the hole now get the fender cold quickly, cold hose will do.
Cooling quickly is important as the hot glue will increase the internal temperature, increase air temp/pressure forcing air to make a hole in the new glue before it cools(hence temporary patch).

Ideally this is done on a very cold day as once completed the fender will increase in presure as the summer ambient temperature increases.
