At a recent East Coast meeting there was talk about a forum trip to next years le mans 24hr race.

Through my Car Club I have a way of getting camping tickets at a sensible price.
This year each camping ticket cost us £45.00 each.
You can try to book direct with the organising club but the chance of getting a ticket are remote. If you were lucky the price would be about €45.00
The last few years we have camped in Houx Annex. Map of the area
You will also need an entrance ticket per person but these can be purchased at one of the entrance gates once you are there. These were €61.00 this year.

You will need a ticket for each vehicle you want to take into the camp site.
Car & Caravan or trailer count as 1 vehicle.
The Camp sites are open from the Monday prior to the raise to the Monday after.
No pitches are allocated.
We now try to get someone to go down to Le Mans early in the week to reserve an area large enough for all to camp in.
I may well do this myself next year.

We need to book tickets within the next few weeks to ensure we get the number we need.
We will have to pay a 20% deposit for each ticket on booking.
The balance will be payable at the end of January 2008.

It is also advisable to book your channel crossing ticket before the end of the year to take advantage of reduced price offers.

I would recommend getting a ticket if you think you would like to come as once the tickets are gone you can not get one at this price later.
If you can’t make it and have a ticket there is a ready market for the tickets at a premium price in the weeks leading up to the event.
We will not get the actual tickets until about 2 weeks before the event.
Once booked and paid for the ticket is yours to do what you will with.

Please let me know by PM if you are interested.

This year it was 16th & 1th June

It is normally the weekend nearest the summer solstice so I would have thought that the date next year would have been 21st & 22nd June but this is not confirmed.
It could be 14th & 15th
Will try to get a confirmed date as soon as I can.

Just to clarify the top post.

You only need get 1 Camping ticket for each vehicle you want to take onto the camp site at the moment.
The number of people in the vehicle is of no consequence for access to the campsite.

Entrance tickets to the circuit for each person are best purchased at the venue on the day you arrive.
These give access to all public areas on all the days of the race.
Grandstand seats are extra.

Can you still get tickets for the Automobile Club DOuest <sp> with views over the pits?

used to be my favourite place when i went many years ago.....jag 1-2-3

also the only place with sit down loo's
civilised compared to the rest of the camp sites

btw....think we used to camp pretty much where you are. in a small wood with a little cafe and big wash basins.

Our ticket supplier could get tickets for the AOC Grandstand this year but that were £200 each /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
If it is your wish to get some it would be wise to book very soon.
There can be no guarantee that you would get some.

Most of the campsite loos now have sit down facilities.
Mine you, you will need a sit down after standing in the queue to use them at busy times.
There are also showers on the camp sites again with long queues.

Clive , sounds daft I know , but is there a limit on how many tickets you can get . Thus far I have self , Louise , In laws and possibly sister in law with her bloke , but if there's a limit on tickets I'll happily tell some that they can't go /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

used to be a part time ticket which only allowed access at "off peak" times.
start and finish of race.......one hour or so either side were verbotten. but early days and other times was only 100 FFr = 10 squids.... IIRC

used to be portable showers and bogs in the area we camped.....near to a cess pit....used to amuse us when the krouts came along and found an area next to the toilets and showers to camp......only to find they were under .....er questionable water.....when they woke up in the morning /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

as for sit down....i seem to remember....

do bears $hit in the woods?
well......
le mans spectators (used to) ..........
/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

i am sorely tempted....

You can get as many entrance tickets as you want at the venue.
It is the camp site tickets that are in short supply.
You would need 1 for each vehicle you want to bring into the campsite.
The vehicle can be anything you like.
A 52 seater coach with a trailer full of tents if you want.
I would advise an early arrival if that was your plan.
It is a bit difficult to get enough space for the tents by Thursday lunchtime.

Time is marching on chaps.

I will need firm bookings by the end of next weekend (22nd July)

The probable date of the event is 21st & 22nd June.
This is not confirmed.
It could be 14th / 15th
We await a decision by our french cousins.
It is normally the nearest weekend to the longest day.
This year it was the 16th / 17th
Anyone's guess which they will chose.

The only booking I believe to be firm is FullCircle's
You can book by PM if you don't want to advertise your plans.

I made an error with the price in the 1st post.
It was £55.00 per camping ticket this year.
So we can expect £55 to £60 next year.
That is assuming we can get on this inexpensive site.
The year sites ranged up to £85

I will sort deposits by PM.

Clive, much as we would like to go, it is almost certain that Le Mans will be on after I have left on the Jester Challenge, the dates for which are coming out in the next few weeks (I think). If it isnt, then will let you know, but suggest counting us out for the moment.
