Nostalgia: we did EC for many years in the 80's and 90's using the YBW offer of a weekend hotel, parking, entrance tickets - looked forward to it as an after Xmas "feelgood" for the new year and it was an excellent deal and experience.

Did the same for the first Excel event and were completely ripped off - tickets not available at hotel reception - had to pay again and go through a nightmare of reclaim, breakfast included but told not included; car park included but hotel added their own fees. Got some money back but bad experience - never been again - complete rip off

I'm playing the nostalgia card. Is there anything for kids? Ie simulators, sailing training or anything? I used to go to Earls Court with my Dad in the 80s. We'd get up at 4:30, get the train from Liverpool, straight into Euston, tube to Earls Court and straight into the show. All day at the show and back home. We never saw the light of day. I must have been about 7-8 at the time and it was Dad and son day out. Brilliant! So this weekend my youngest son has a party to go to, so it's my moment to take my oldest (7).

All being well we'll be on the water this year, so I get to do what I did with my dad all those years ago. Can't wait, so I haven't told him where we are going in case he says he doesn't want to go and would rather play his xbox! Thankfully, nowadays it's only an hour drive away.

Planning to go on Thursday courtesy of Princess.

Looking forward to chewing the fat and possibly saying hello to a few people. The day spilled outside into one of the bars last year as the show closed, hopefully it might do the same this time.

A new 75 from Princess and another look around the S65 which I really liked from a quick poke around at Southampton. I'm hoping my VIP fast pass card works to allow access to the boats.....

Henry :)
