For me it is a great chance to catch up with some old friends, and see some great new boats. It is a much smaller show than SIBS, so you can get around it easily. There are some launches to look forward to, but Sunseeker and Princess will dominate this year.

The main forum meet is on Thursday night which is usually fun.

Re the show there are vendors with "special offers " but these are available from thier web site as well.

Boats to look at obviously! It is also a good place to meet genuinely knowledgable people from the likes of the electronics suppliers , water makers , generators and so on which can otherwise be difficult to track down

If all else fails you can buy a jacuzzi !

Does that mean your not going?

Miss you already.:D

Lord, is it that obvious?? :D

Went the year before last, almost tripped over a tumbleweed... never again... 4 hours on the orbital to the Excel, 20 odd squids for the pleasure of parking there, plus entry.... and really nothing worth see'ing*..

*to be fair, I am a yachtie, and I like sail'y boats..... and he did ask...

Every year it's the same, people moan about the location, and moan about the event in general, it's not a bad a day out and I love the location but then I would I can get there in 25 mins, but not everyone will see it that way.

In early Jan it's cold and can be a bit drab, a day at a boat show is a good way to spend a day, especially when many on here never pay for tickets!

I seem to remember the feedback from last year was pretty much divided along Motor/Sailing lines

MOBOers seemed to think it was okay, sailors that it was a waste of time. Given this posting is in MBF we can guess the OP is in the former category.

if ur a raggie why do you feel the need to slag it off on here ,if peps dont go and buy a new boat how can i or other peeps buy a second hand one

Same every year, lots of criticism about the location, the reducing number of exhibitors, the lack of good deals on kit etc etc. Sure, there is some merit in the complaints and it simply doesn't compare with SIBS but the bottom line is that it is a boatie day out in January so what's not to like? :)

"slag it off"?? que?? :D

I was asked my opinion of the show, I gave it... the OP didn't say only positive responses were required.... he also didn't ask for only mobo'ers to respond..... do you hold shares in the show, or the Excel perchance?

i take what you say ,but he did post on here ,you can come to the wales boat show ,i will send you some free tickets

Well I must be in the minority here i loved it last year. Its a good 2.5 hour drive for me. But I like it that I can just go in a jumper and not dependant on the weather. Also the fact that's it's smaller means that I get to see everything in the one day and spend more time on each boat and looking at stuff. As I said I'm in the minority I actually in some way prefer it to sibs
