LBS Five days ?

Or have I missed the thread ?
I shall pull up a chair ...

That will be a lot of effort for exhibitors to set up / tear down for a "one weekend" show.
The timing sounds better, in terms of being further away from Xmas ... not so good in terms of being closer to "Das Boot".

I just cannot see how it will survive with anything meaningful and big in terms of boats.

I was at another meeting earlier with a rep from one of the big three and they are still very much trying to work it all out.

Interesting but sad times having done them all there.

Whether just putting a brave face on it Princess have always said London was a good show.

For international visitors I think London has a paricular appeal. Easy to get to, familiar, good shopping, food, tourist attractions and we speak reasonably good English. Whether smaller companies can justify the expense is a very different thing. Ultimately its much cheaper to buy any boating gear that doesn't need face to face comparison online.

I like them both, for different reasons. SIBS is great for looking at a wide range of boats. LIBS great for catching up with folk. As long they have late night Thursday at LIBS, I don't care if it is 5 days or 15.

The biggest appeal for Southampton is the relatively cheap cost of displaying your boat. Leaving aside the cost of the space you just need some string to tie to the dock cleats and a box of leaflets. At London you need to get the boat out of the water and onto a very expensive stand.

Even if the organisers said you can exhibit for free at London its going to cost tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds. Being based on the water makes things so much easier for people selling boats.

As an event I do like London but I'm not picking up the tab directly.

Dont see the appeal to foreign visitors, pathetic show of boats at london when they can wait another week or so and go to dusseldorf . now thats what i call a boat show

With the amount of hot tubbs and garden furniture they would be better of tagging onto the ideal home exhibition and sharing the venue

You need to see it in terms of a manufacturer inviting foreign clients or foreign dealers inviting potential clients to London to see the range.

The fact there is a show is almost immaterial.
