Looking at getting a rigid tender for carting crew, bags, and dogs out to the yacht. Only a short distance so will not need something that takes an outboard. Looking for rigid so that I can drag it up the shore or leave it tethered afloat to take the ground, and generally let it take some knocks without worrying too much. I like the sound of the Bug with its built in wheel and handles, and of course being able to sail in it occasionally would be a bonus.
Is a Bug likely to actually have any appreciable load carrying capacity? Will everything get soaked in it? And will it have the stability required of a decent tender??

Looks a bit tippy to me, but never even seen one so what do I know. Take a look at a Bobbin dinghy, Been using one for the last 8 or 9 years. Full sailing kit etc. excellent little dinghy.

Thanks, haven't had a lot of luck on Google- what sort of weight would a Bobbin be? Is it GRP?
One thing that attracted me to the Bug was that it is almost like a wheelbarrow, with a wheel in the bow and two retractable handles at the stern.

Here's a thread with some photos... http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?358574-Bobbin-Dinghy
The Bobbin is GRP and is not a lightweight dinghy, it takes two to lift it off the ground, and you need a launching trolley. The mast is 2 part with both sections plus the boom all fitting inside each other so relatively easy to stow.

If you can do away with the sailing ability perhaps one of the Plastimo dinghies would be the way to go... http://www.marinescene.co.uk/product/3186/plastimo-prd-260-grey-tender/?gclid=COT2g8qK5rgCFY7LtAodA3AA9w
