Lamlash

I would not advise "borrowing" someones mooring to save a tenner - quite apart from the fact they are private property (!) many of them are for very light craft and some have not been serviced in years.

Alan

I wouldn't either if I had one your size but but mine is quite small by comparison. ;)
If that is your boat at the end of C pontoon? I wish you wouldn't park it there as I have to stop and drool every time I pass. :)

Wash your mouth out, as a Killie boy we went there for culture ;-) At one point the Towers Hotel (mid 70s) did the best pint of Guinness outside Dublin, and the wee chip shop on the road to the harbour the best chips in the western hemisphere!

Do towns, like some ladies, get more attractive when viewed through beer goggles? Could even Grimsby become a des-res with a little help from some Guiness?

Thats a fair point - there's a big conical buoy beside our mooring which has "Grand Banks" painted on the side of it - I haven't seen a Grand Banks or anyone else use it regulary for over 7 years - but last month a couple of 40ft plus Belgian yachts rafted up and hung on it for 2 days & it seemed to work OK

We are on C2 at the harbour wall - good berth as long as you don't mind having endless conversations with the great & good of Ardrossan out for a stroll "awrite big man nice boat"

coming up the time warp Firth of Clyde yesterday evening (Is Ailsa Craig really still in the same place as it was two hours ago!) Lamlash in partic and Arran in General were getting dumped on big style to we headed to Troon. From Belfast to Troon we only saw one other yacht.

How was the North Channel? It seems to be a lumpy grumpy uncomfortable bit of water pretty much all the time.
