I have used silicone grease on plastic threads and o rings to get a water proof seal.

the silicone grease and hatch covers on my dingy lockers and the floats on my mooring all have round hatches sealed from water ingress with silicone grease

Guys and Gals .... forget all that grease / gel stuff ....

Buy a spray can of CORROSION X .... its designed specifically for protecting electronics from water .... it has no sticky gel stuff once applied ... it does not interfere with lens / colours etc.

Open light fit bulb - spray - close ..... good till often next season ... but occasional check is good.

Its not WD40 style before anyone asks.
