labels for clutches

Spinlock ship a full set of labels with any of their clutches, so maybe they also sell the labels separately.

Going off a slight tangent, I would really like to have labels that are somewhat fluorescent. In the day I have no trouble finding the right clutch, but at night mistakes have been made.

Edit: Please don’t confuse the old Dymo with new, they now make proper thermo printers like everyone else.

I’ve had a Brother p touch, and found it rubbish compared to my newer Dymo D1 thermo printer.
The only thing better about the Brother was Screwfix sell the cassettes. I have to think ahead and buy the Dymo D1 cassettes online, so I buy extra as I use my labeller daily.

I think that may be the important factor ....

I have a standard plastic strip Dymo - where the letters are 'punched' into the stiff plastic ... they just do not stay stuck to anything for long ...

Went to shop to get the later Brother version H107 ... online said In Stock ... ... shop guy could not find it.

Another shop - their online said they had as well .... no !! But they had the H100 ... so bought that.

Already used and actually happy with it ... put British Airways on sides of my Concorde models !! which I'd been trying to figure out how to do ....

Might work if you are single handed (and only sail that boat). If you are very clever you might have every line a very distinct colour so you can provide requests to less familiar people with "tighten the blue rope" or "slacken the red rope". However the ability to print robust water proof labels is actually really useful for many other purposes on board - labelling boxes of spare parts, food containers, seacocks, wires, contact details on kit you might leave or which might get "borrowed" etc.

Many years ago - I had an original; Dymo and it worked great ... labels stuck to mast and lasted years .............. but this latest Dymo labeller - same design - but the tapes are useless .. the colour fades ... the glue fails days later ...

Now that I have tested the Black on White labels - impressed - I have been looking at the alternative colours and combos ...

Question now is - are the cheaper Chinese cartridge tapes as good as the original Brother tapes (both are Chinese I know ....). Why do I ask ? Brother original at 12 euros a pop ..... AliExpress cartridge 3 euros a pop !
 
I also have a Brother p touch using tz/tze tape which is UV resistant. Initially bought by my wife for garden labels but excellent on the boat, lasts for years, some on my boom & clutches were done 18yrs ago - I use white on black, 12mm wide tape.

It's shabby, unclear and will fall off soon. Don't do it.

The Brother label printers produce a pro-job and not expensive.

Also you can get traffolyte labels made by lots of contractors. No label machine purchase is needed. A professional look and surprisingly cheap too.

I tried one of the copies and it was rubbish, but i can't remember why, now i stick with the genuine Brother tapes.
 
Easy. Print on SA vinyl paper and cover with Mylar sail repair tape. I've been testing this against commercial labels. It really works.

I would buy the Spinlock ones (I have) but they don't match up more than about 70% with the stuff I have. Never have, any boat.
 
I used "self adhesive printed vinyl sheet A4" on Ebay.
Different colours and some white on Black for control panel. Just supply a jpeg
I did new ssr numbers also on the same sheet. about £10 inc delivery
