Knox anchor

This looks like the first spring sighting of any price for one of these anchors.

What size was the 250 quid anchor? Thanks

It was the 13kg which was actually overspec for my boat, I seem to recall that the deal I was offered was a cash flow thing in the early production days. Uk stockists seem to be marinechandery.com they used to be based at st peters marina on the Tyne, full price list and specs on the website.

Not being familiar - what bottom type in Kilchattan Bay.

Would you buy one?

Jonathan

Pretty sure it's mostly sand.

Yes, I would buy one. Interested n getting a small one as a second anchor to complement the Spade and ditching my 15Kg CQR copy which clutters up the foredeck but is never used.

Sand and silt. Kilchatton Bay anchorages all drop off steeply from about 5m to 25m quickly, so it's an easy place to slide down hill if dragging and not have enough scope.

I don't know the area, but this is an important point. The seabed slope where the anchor is positioned has a significant effect on the angle of pull on the anchor shank and hence the holding.

The "effective scope" is significantly reduced on a downslope.

It is a factor that is largely ignored when selecting an appropriate scope. It should be given far more consideration.
