Is there such a thing ?
Apart from normal jobs that require knee pads , I often go forward on my knees when the weather gets lively.

Try Screwfix but yes but pads integrated in trousers for those who work in lofts laying boards or reflecting sheds etc . My strap on ones are fairly useless apart from occasional diy use. I sure spinlock are the bees knees though.

I've got a pair of motorcycle ones that I bought in Japan, and a couple of sets sold for skateboarding that I earlier repurposed for motorcycling.

Is it likely to be worth me keeping them for sailing/DIY?

I'll guess these are for impact protection when you fall off, not for longer-term comfort working on a boat.

Absolutely trousers with a padding pocket (or just with built-in pads). Worth considering your size though; I seem to have quite long femurs so for some brands, when I buy the long-leg version, they seem to just add extra fabric to the ankle end of the normal leg version so the knee pad sits too high on me. But strap-on pads are much less utility and comfort.
