Kinsale vs Cork

Golden rule with these things is to get upwind as far and as fast as weather allows, imo
Thus, through summer we have typically westerlies . So if you get a decent Easterly jumping off from scilly, keep going! An extra day is not a biggie once you two settle into the rythym of passage making, in my experience .
Coming back east and then N to iom is a
doddle
Lovely choices, enjoy!

Good job you chose Kinsale then it's a very easy entrance with lots of room.
Depending on the wind angle yes I’d agree and glad I wasn’t heading elsewhere. Todays easterlies were just about manageable to get to the anchorages but as we were getting ready to drop the hook the boys in yellow turned up and took us to a mooring up the river.

Waterford's great, but there are currently no moorings for visitors while the new footbridge is being built. New Ross is an alternative.

Although looking at your plans, there probably isn't time for either
Thanks Waterford was on the list just to keep the sails to day sails. We’re hoping to spend a week here first but apparently working people have a bank holiday on so we may be scuppered there as we wanted power, water and bins for the week

Suggest talking to Waterford. Johnnie may be able to find you a berth. I had a great stay last year, berthed on the inside of the non-visitor pontoon.

We found water (at the public slipway/fishing quay) and bins (sailing club recycling area) and laundry (dry cleaners €4/kg) so Kinsale is now liveable for the week. We turned off the broadband so solar is keeping up with power for now 🤣
