Ketch beached near Tollesbury Leavings...

Very sad to see this sweet looking ketch washed up near Tollesbury Leavings... a victim of the storm?

It looks like the genoa was left on the furler. Came partially undone and caused the boat to break free from its mooring.
Why do people leave foresails on the furlers? They will always come undone with more (boat breaks free) or less catastrophic (shredded sail) results.

It looks as if the mainsail has come free also. Some people do go sailing in the winter months, so can understand why they might not want to bend on the sails every time. However it obviously would be wise to do something different when storms are forecast?

High n Dry it would appear ; She (the boat) could have been washed up in far more damaging plces , for shure ; looks savalgeable to me , but not familiar withe area /ground

Masts look ok to me , so no great expenditure there to me

.... and it is still there to day. It has been there for 3 or 4 days, doesn't any body know whose yacht this is? I can see it from my house

As we are heading towards neaps again at present, it will likely be stuck there for a while to come! Surprised that it is still sitting there with the sail remnants still up the mast. I guess that someone at the marina is aware and has alerted the owners.

No harm in one of you locals phoning the CG to tell them, with some details including boat name if someone has got that. It may well be that the owner is blissfully unaware.

The owner often works abroad so probably unable to take action before the storm. As I understand it he does know the situation.

If the owner knows about it, but is abroad, why doesn't he get the yard or someone to attend to it

It is possible he is somewhere “abroad” where doing something about your boat is very low priority?
