Keep an eye out for Padiwac

i was intending to go sailing this weekend but swmbo pointed out that id better get the electrics for the new extension finished /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif still with 65mph winds forecast, one is glad that one chose this weekend to do the electrics.

im sure that the young lad and padiwac are tucked away in a safe haven somewhere, getting caught out in winds like that could destroy his self confidence

Good choice Matt, just back from Wells and it's not looking very nice at all. Don't know how many boats are normally there but there didn't seem to be many that had risked it, if any.

well after i dug the trench to take the SWA,i decided that as a reward i would allow swimbo to drive me down to wells /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

we walked over the sands to Glissando, had a coffee on board and made our way back, boy is that wind blowing or what,it was making you sway around.

swimbo also insisted that we pick up some pirate gear /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif so with my cutlass and pistol im tooled up and ready

dave were you scoping out wells for a jolly?

Yep, we've looked at the mooring at Seas End and it has a thirty foot drop down a vertical steel ladder that's seen better days, after crossing a rickety old wooden walkway, after walking down a steep and slippery grass bank, so I think I know now why it's not in regular use.
Scoped out Fosdyke and actually met the boss. Price for mooring given as about £115-00 per meter, per year. Followed by a long trek down river to open waters, with few comfort facilities available.
Wisbech is out because we know what the town can be like on a weekend and plod is non existant there these days, so we kept going and ended up in Wells. Seems to have all the facilities we need, plus only about 60 miles each way, plus a whole lot cheaper and everything is typically Norfolk freindly. Love the place and just need to meet the harbour meister now to get on the list. Plus make arrangements for experienced crew to help us move her /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Should have said you were going, we could have met up and introduced the ladies /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

with the exception of sea end,you are going through the same route as i did ,Wells was the obvious answer, okay it has tidal limitations but its cheap and its friendly. For a shower i use the camp site /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gifWe were there between 2 oclock and 5 oclock, what time where you guys there?

If you phone up BoB the Harbourmaster,he will let you know if there are any moorings left.I asked last Nov and got a form, i filled it in and got the offer in January, its costing me 275.00 a year for my boat and a tender.he will want to check sixpence, the guys a good easy to get on with bloke.

Ill be down there next weekend, barring any unforseen probs,if you are heading back down give me a call.

Sounds like you were leaving as we were arriving, only went to have a look around so got there about 17-00 and left 17-35. Don't think we'll be going again next weekend, though it depends what Bob says when we speak to him. What sort of things does he want to check ?

The other sixteen year old sailing a Corribee around the UK is off and running as well. (www.jonnymooresailing.com )

It looks like he had a good crossing from Holyhead to the Isle of Man on Friday, sat out the gales there over the weekend and has now moved now round to Peel on the west coast for the trip over to N Ireland tomorrow.

I was curious why both lad's Corribees seemed to have the same style spray hoods. It turns out Jonathan's Dad made them both.

dave buddy i hate to tell you this but your only 16 once /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

and yours passed a wee while back /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Young Jack now at Lowestoft.
He's a member of the club at Hollowshore (off the Swale) as is the East Coast Pilot chap who writes local stuff for ST - he did a write-up about Jack with a photo a few issues ago.
I met Jack in Ramsgate a couple of weeks ago on our way to Oostend....very impressive young man, you'd think you were talking to someone 15 years older.

Both lads haven't had the easiest of weeks. The vagaries of an English summer are teaching them patience if nothing else!

It's a long haul all the way around the coast, but even with the gale delays this past week, they are both averaging enough per day to see them round before being too late for school next term. But a what an excuse, eh? Beats the usual "my dog ate my bus pass".
