Keel Winch Jag 25

[Panache]

The Keel winch on my Jaguar 25 has jammed with the keel "up".
Does anyone know where I could scource a new winch or who made the origional?
I live in the Cambridge area, boat is on the Essex coast.

Any help would be appreciated

As previous (50%) owner of Panache, I'm sorry to hear you've had winch trouble. In the 4 years that I part owned Panache, I had no trouble at all.

This may be too late to help you, but are you sure you haven't overtightened the winch and got the wire rope coilbound on the drum. In any case if you clamp the wire to a bar or something inside the cabin so the keel can't drop, you should be able to undo the winch retaining bolts on the steps & remove the steps to get at the winch. Hope this helps. Winch cable was replaced I think in 1999 when the sail drive gasket was done.

You should be able to purchase a new winch if required from a trailer manufacturer.
