helloooo

if i go thru a lock in the kayak, am i expected to throw a line up or tie up when the lock goes down?!

cheers!

If you went through the locks I go through, I would expect you to drown! :)

Hold on to a slimy chain and hold your breath when all the smokey diesels fire up. I generally invite Kayaks and Canoes to hold on to one of my fender lines assuming of course there is room outside of me.

at boulters (local lock) id have to carry it up/down steps by the road (pub side) rather than go thru. if i get in at the still side of the lock i could paddle round to the weirpool, take out there and straight in.... which i might try next time.

had a casting lesson on the weekend for the fly rod so itching even more to give it a go!

I'm with Ross!

I always invite Kayak guys to hang on to anything thay want to.

Kayak guys are like Rowers, only good....

I offered a fender line to a canoeist in a lock and the fender came off in his hand! He was very embarrassed and I was perplexed.

That was before I changed all the rotten fender lines.

When we are out on the dinghy and heading through locks we tend to hang on the another boats fenders or lines. Makes life a bot easier.

If the lock is in user operator or is a work out (manual) lock we will often just tie the dinghy to another boat to get it through whilst we work the lock. No one has driven off with it yet :D

Don't tie on to Pheran he'll be off with it in a heartbeat and have it on Ebay within minutes.
