the hull is pale blue and the font will be dark blue

any ideas about a font

it has to be clear enough so that the hard of seeing can read it

but not so authoritarian and neat that it suggests a tide table rather than an adventure

there are eight in this 40 second film

I am going to put it about a fifth of the way back from the bow on the std side and about a fifth of the way forward of the stern on the port side

I was also considering putting a web address where the hunter logo is along the blue stripe

should I?

Dylan

First font is OK, and maybe the 5th, but I lost count so maybe that's not the one I meant.
I think you should have a web address, maybe above the name on the dark stripe, but I think it would be better below the name, or, even better, boldly along each side. I saw a McGregor 26 in the Bahamas with a web address enblazoned on each side and thought it looked thoroughly modern.

I notice every oh so trendy racing boat at Cowes seems to have a web address on the boom, whether sponsored or not !

At least you have a good reason for it Dylan, I would certainly advertise your site if I were you; a means of contact with people you meet too.

Any of the first 3 - the remainder either lack 'personality' or legibility. Or both.

The web address needs to be readable/legible (i.e typeface and location) otherwise why do it - and it is worth doing, for you especially. A classic sans-serif (Helvetica for example) would be fine for that. BTW you don't need 'www.'

"Katie" in any font you like , but the "L" should be bold and red in a white square
as in Learner plate!

Nora!

Blooming Nora .....

not even thought of that.....

two fonts....

life got tougher

I am thinking of putting the web address just on one side of the bow where the hunter is - same font - clear and all lower case

Dylan

I firmly believe that the name on a boat should be highly legible.
My vote therefore goes for 1, 2, 4,or 6

I'm glad you have settled on Katie L. By far the best of all those suggested .

Looks as if your sticking with fonts that come with your operating system. I point most people in the direction of www.1001freefonts.com

These are free to install on your machine so you can type the text you want so you can see what it will look like. I would also say that you should also change the colour to what you want as this will make some fonts look bigger/smaller depending on the colour, especially when cut in vinyl. On the back of my van on black windows I have yellow text. The font looks bigger in yellow than it would in white.

I wouldn't put the web address on the boom. For a start the boom isn't that big in cross section so the text will be pretty puny. Second its varnished. Some adhesives on the vinyl WILL react with some varnishes, especially not totally cured varnish.

Its all personal taste at the end of the day.

good suggestions

the font is the colour it will be on the boat - dark blue

I stuck to the fonts on the adobe edting system so that I can use in in the videos

too many fonts in this world already

I agree about not putting it on the boom

partly because I would have to spend all day looking at it

as for personal taste - I have long given up deciding that my personal taste is what other like

I do not want to use a font that wil make most people go "bleuch"

D

I'd go with the Gabriola. Looks nice neat and classic. Or if I want to be a pedant then the only way to go is to match the font used for "Hunter 23" that is on the cabin side. So you've chosen the name/font and colour. Do you want it in matt or gloss??

I've used ale and wenches, in both forms, on a boat. It looks very pleasing. Don'tuse white for ith though, looks odd

The second one if you want to communicate your soft feminine side to the world otherwise surely a craggy old sea dog should opt for the final font in the video.
