KAD impeller - clockwise / anti-clockwise?

Once upon a time I used to faff around with cable ties and bits of tube in an effort to insert replacement impellers correctly orientated. Then I came to my senses! After a few experiments I found that however the vanes lay during installation they always flopped over to their correct position within, at most two, revolutions of the pump's shaft. Conclusion? Just stuff the impeller in and it will sort itself out without any outside help.

I am blessed in my boat - for a 37ft the engine bay space is huge... I can crawl around the engines no problem. Even greasing the steering forks (DP-G) is a doddle (although if you had a big belly, might be a challenge).

Back to the impeller.....
Greased the shaft (ooh er) by using a cotton bud on the impeller side, lubed up the impeller and it slid right in.... 5 min job each side!

PS. Can only put the face-place on one side on the KAD's.... on the outside they're painted and have a Volvo (and other writing) engraving.

A quick once over with emery soon shifts any paint and experience suggests that even "Volvo Penta " or for that matter " Johnson" or "Jabsco" being stamped on the plate makes no difference to the pumps efficiency.
Eventually though the wear on both sides will finally demand replacement.

Great idea
My oil filter wrench has a deliberate raised rough inside to grip the filter but I guess with a good bit of lube it’s ok.
I lube the impeller before using the wrench. My raw water pump isn’t that easy to get at so having the impeller squashed and attached to a handle so I can hold it and rotate it into position makes the job easier.
