KAD impeller - clockwise / anti-clockwise?

I'm about to re-insert my impellers later on the KAD300. I can't remember if the impeller turns clockwise or anti-clockwise (as you're looking at it from the front)... I want to know which way to turn is as I insert so the vanes are turned the right way.

Any ideas?

Clockwise, as I remember.
The impellor is pushing the water uphill into the strainer.

Which direction do the clocks turn in your houses?
Or am I missing something here.

I’m not going to try it but I wonder if it really matters if you get it wrong with a nice new flexible impeller. It probably sorts itself out in the first rotation

I hope not as that would put the strainer under pressure and any leak/break would make water fill the engine room with sea water. Impeller pumps typically deliver 125 liter per minute which is quite a lot if it's collected in the bilge.

The logical answer is that the impeller sucks water from the strainer which in its turn takes from the seacock. This also enables flushing/winterizing by pouring coolant into the strainer at idle.

Nope, it's not that way around.
Remove the strainer cap from a running KAD engine with an outdrive, and the engine bay will fill with water very quickly.
See that last screen capture - the hose on the lower RHS is the inlet hose from the outdrive pickup.

The upside is that if the impeller disintegrates, most of it gets caught in the strainer.

It is indeed anti-clockwise. Maybe it doesn't matter if the vanes are the wrong way round if you're starting up right after installation, however I won't be launching until next week, so didn't want the vanes 'memorising' in the wrong way for a week.

Now begins the boring task of washing, compounding and polishing the whole exterior. Sometimes I wish I was rich and just paid someone to do it, but it wouldn't be done right!
 
If like most boat engines ,the water pump has been fitted in the most awkward ,hard to get to, or even in some circumstances impossible to even see spot, eventually you will not care which way round it goes in.
Get it in with loads of your choosen/favorite/ whatevers lying around around lubricant.
On the first start up it will take the correct alignment inside the pump body.
Cheap skates will be putting the side of the cover plate with least wear/scouring inside the pump.
