1999 vintage, the blocks have sat on top of the KAD shaking about with the wires relatively unsupported once out of the block
one green wire, bottom left on left block, insulation busted, copper strands popping out
and the connectors are cracked and split, looks as if some one has been here b4 me

i rearranged the support as best as i could, but now get error lights, temp / oil / battery on the dash and it obviously won't start
could have left it alone, but that was a problem waiting to happen, at least it did not happen on the water

so, what to do, i am experienced at soldering / heat shrink and recon i can support the finished article way better than the spidery mess there is at the moment

or fit another plug / socket setup, the wires into the bottom blocks look particularly suspect
is the bottom part / cable replaceable ?

suggestions please !connector block 2020 2.JPGconnector block 2020 1.JPG

Plugs and sockets from RS , you would need to cut the wires back to get clean copper wire for good connEt ions is there spare available.

someone has been a bit ham fisted there.
I would replace the connector with something similar and do it properly. If you just solder he wires together eliminating the connector you can guarantee that sooner or later you will need to separate the cable again. Multiway water resistant connectors are easy to find.

When I used to produce the joy stick system for Sealine, I need plugs to mate up with the Volvo EDC system, I used to get them from the local Volvo truck spares people. They used the same plugs and terminal as Volvo marine, but at a realistic price, may be worth a hunt.

Hi,
Brand new to this forum (after 50 years as a canal boater) - but I think I spy a fellow Aquador owner ?- We are just about to complete on our (fully surveyed) 1999 model 32C - will look out for this issue in my engine bay.
Any other family faults I should be aware of - is there a useful Aquador group/owners club ??
Cheers

Halsey, pm me pls

tnx all, did not think those connectors would still be available, OEM worth doing esp as that is the way to connect to the EDC in case that is ever needed
will go shopping, cost of the OEM connectors not an issue

hamfisted and shite, yep !
Trying to make contact but I seem to be being blocked??

The plugs in the photo are the 2x 8 pin edc loom plugs they are nothing to do with what’s displayed on the dash , all the dash supply is through the black 16pin plug and loom that exits the black box top front left on engine.

it won’t start ? You must have edc faults showing if the edc loom is open circuit . You can buy good new looms from coastal rides .

you mean this cable with the red arrow which i may have pulled, loose to access the grey connectors underneath
what do the wires do connected via the grey connectors ?
are they vital to starting ?

This forum protocol has changed , the reason you cannot pm is because you are a new user , stupid idea , you have to build up posts and replies a bit like eBay rating . Time the moderator took it off.
I get people emailing me direct bec they cannot send a PM

Sorted the shite connectors, cut one pair of wires at a time, soldered, heatshrunk two layers, wrapped self amalgamating tape, tied the new sealed chunks down
all works again and the dash lights are now correct at last
yep some, all, might say a bodge
but, there is no place to support the plugs and cables, so they’d just be rattling about on top of the KAD
and the wire gauge is all over the place, so I’d need various diameter connectors to make it ‘secure’
not my idea of fun or reliability
yep if the KAD has to come out the wires will need to be cut, least of my probs at that time I recon
