Can anybody tell me what should the gap be between the black drive dog and the mounting face of the pump?

According to this page Keypart your pump is identical to my one on my tamd41pa which I refurbished last year. Here is the dimentioned drawing of my pump raw water pump drawing.pdf

Thank you for such a prompt and useful reply, certainly is identical, showing the slot depth @ 11mm and just slightly above the mounting face of the pump, I think I will set it at 12mm and if I don’t feel any resistance when I offer it up I will refit at that,

How unfortunate, I hope you presented your VP Dealer with a Bill for the subsequent repairs, if you asked Volvo to replace the seals they would have removed the shaft for sure, therefore the responsibility for correctly refitting it is down to them...... and that was after I gave the pump to a VP dealer to sort out the seals
