JW's Upgrades for 2016 - Tender

shock horror the little joint in the curved margin starboard bow IS there on the OEM panel :-)
Well, we must give those Novurania folks the time to learn from our suggestions, I guess! :D :p
Just to try to improve my own record (as graciously recognised by petem) for the most trivial observation ever made: am I right in seeing a black joint line at the bottom of your first pic, as if they couldn't cover that space in one piece and had to add the last bit?
It doesn't seem to be there in Hurricane's deck.

Oh, and another one a bit (though not much, admittedly - by far first world problem again!) more affecting the functionality: Hurricane, are those things just under the stern U-bolts u/w lights? If yes, it seems to me that they should have been fitted lower, because in that position I would expect them to be above the w/l even at rest, unless heavily loaded...

Overall, a great addition to JW capabilities anyway! :encouragement:

1) there is a bend in the GRP bottom, (not well visible in the pic) thats why there is a cut in the cork

2) these are drain points for water on the surface behind the helm seat

I will measure your Avon Jez to see if it fits in the van, if so, I can bring it back for you.

It may not fit, my 3.4m hung out of the back, they were taking bets in the marina that I wouldn't get on the ferry with the back doors roped open and the bow hanging out - its amazing what a smile does when you go through customs... mind you, they didn't like it much when I arrived back in Portsmouth 'they let you get through like that' I think was their comment.

Thanks B, understood.

Re. 1, in hindsight I can see the bottom angle in the first of Hurricane pics above.
Funny though that in his pic there isn't any visible joint...

And re.2, well, if those are drains, it wasn't such a bad idea to put them above the w/l, I reckon... :)

If all goes well, I will be driving the Novurania out sometime in the spring.
It will be on a flatbed trailer with my new dock underneath.
The trailer will be empty on the way back so it could take Jez's old dinghy (or my old Walker Bay!!!:D:D:D)

I noted some very significant structural cracks to the bathing platform on Seralia when on-board a couple of weeks ago, I am certain it would not take the weight of a heavy Walker Bay :encouragement: Note to self, remember to take a heavy sledge hammer out in the van....

Nice try - but it's not some flimsy bolt on platform you know..

Back to the important matter of teak caulking patterns, here are pictures of the 3 panels, and shock horror the little joint in the curved margin starboard bow IS there on the OEM panel :-)

I suppose that's because it's almost a 90 degree elbow, so if made in one piece (in real teak) the grain would run laterally across some of it. It's therefore more authentic with the extra caulking joint.

What's the ETA here Mike? Are you going to sea-trial in the Bay before taking out to SC? If so and you need a hand, please feel free to call - I can always drop the Fletcher in for a run and get some pictures etc if I'm not at work!

I'm not holding my breath.
These Novuranias are notoriously difficult to get.
Strange - in a world like this, you would have thought they would want to get the boats out as quickly as possible.
The order went in during the middle of October.
In contrast, Princess would have made several of their P43s in that time.
Beggars belief.
