Just how low can Euro boat prices go ...

It can prevent a lot of time wasting for the seller when the buyer is able to make plain his thinking and the seller can either rejig his price or say "no chance" on the spot.
What not to like ?
Exactly what happened with our chap on the 20 hour plane trip.
It worked out just fine for them both, he saw and liked it on paper so made an offer, refused, upped offer, accepted by buyer and seller subject to boat being as described, it was, surveyed her on spot, trialed and bought. Job done.

I think the question is not about the top end of the market as he who has 20 mill plus to spend has the upper hand on the deal
It's the low to mid range bracket 50-250 imo were the prices are un realistic people want far to much
A 15/20 year old boat purchase price 150-200 k now selling for 75-100

I think the buyer is in an advantageous position. The seller bears the costs of carry ie. if he doesn't sell the boat he has to continue to pay for it's storage, insurance, mooring, depreciation etc. (Unlike the housing market where the buyer also has costs of not buying ie rent).
Over time, the object of the buyers desires will only become cheaper.
Many brokers will try to induce a sense of competition around the boat to force the buyer to pay up (a mistake I made buying my boat). But, ultimately, I think buyers are in a better position and therefore have stronger bargaining power to drive a good deal. This is borne out in the fact that boats, unlike houses, never trade above asking price.

All relevant and sound observations but to be honest with you, the more expensive boats are get just as many lower pitched offers as the more affordable boats. It is common practice across the board and all relative to ones ability to purchase a boat at whatever level.
The common factor is not the price but the fact that EVERY BUYER wants to know they have done the best deal they could.

£ = Euro now going the other way.
Yup, all those boat brokers and dealers who've invested big money advertising their services for buying cheap Euroland boats are currently whimpering into their half pints of bitter;)
