Just bought my new ECP.

Just to be clear, are we talking about ECP 5.0? I've had mine for a few years so i wondered if you'd got a newer edition.

It is the 5th edition, my previous copy came FOC after taking DH up to Allington quite some while ago.

Yes, that's the one. Besom Fleet is much, much longer than now and the Nass Spit frankly isn't there nowadays. There is no drying there. I see Irving places a drying height of 10 feet close by Shinglehead Point

This interests me because I bought my first boat at Ben Clarke’s yard in City Road in 1969, and taught myself (I had sailed dinghies) single handed. I think most of the changes had already happened by then.

Anyway here’s my own snapshot looking the other way in January 2014:

Yes, I did see your image when you posted it before. I think the image shows how important it has been to do the re-charging to try to protect the Mersea harbour. Trying to rebuild the Nass spit could bring all sort of troubles but when I compare to my early data for the Tollesbury North and Souith channels (including the Nass) to this year's, is not good.

I've got a copy of that same edition. Always struck by that pic of Burnham, how different it looks today, a fraction of that number of boats. All gone to the Solent, I guess!

Corr recall that my First ECR was great reading , totally without Global Warming forbodings , or River /sea warnings of rising water levels I usedto play in the Deben Creeks , especially where the river had broached the Sea Walls ; in them far off days , if the Ferry was flooded , we used to think it was great fun , corr the Residential Flotila behind the Boatyard , all cut off due to a Spring Tide , now that was an adventure for us all ; Yep them ECR of the 60s etc were far more practical plus easy reading {#
