vertical drill stand.

How the heck did I manage without one before?

Now it's my best tool (well, in the workshed, anyway). Unless I think about my new router .. Hmm getting difficult to choose.

Is there another tool I should get or have I got the best ones?

Planer / Thicknesser
Spindle Moulder (now there's a dangerous bit of kit!)
Mortice Cutter

oooh the list is endless!

What fun I'd have if I ever win the lottery /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

On the subject of tools!

I just had to spend out a bit on tools, bought a router, wow! Wont use it often but how did I manage without one?

The other 'investment', had to buy a new hammer drill, the old one, B&D, about 25 years old finally died on me, it did well as it was condemned as beyond repair about 15 years ago, been on borrowed time since.

Both these tools will live on the shelf in the garage and get little use. But when you need them there is no alternative.

Ooooh !
I know just how you feel...its like an awakening, however did I manage without this essential bit of kit?

However my favourite is the power wash...just had the hose pipe ban lifted so I'm happy...

SWMBO just bought me a cross cut mitre saw. Brilliant, but I do count my fingers every now and again.

If you have a router, you don't need a spindle moulder - you need a router table. I made one out a sheet of laminate covered board. It gets clamped on a work-mate.

Make your own handles with the right router bit!

Your kit is incomplete until you get a bench belt sander, I don't know how I ever managed without one.

3 bits of kit ....

a) Hand held 240V disc cutter .....

b) Bench mounted grinder / sharpener

c) Small portable genny to power the tools wherever I want to work !

Sadly I sold years ago my bench Dremel Jig-saw when I gave up building models - boy do I want that back now ! .... fabulous bit of kit - much better than the Burgess rival ....

I have had a 3/16" router for a long time and always thought that it wasnt quite right for a lot of the jobs. I then bought a 1/2" router and have been amazed at the difference. a set of really decent titanium blades is essential.

Biscuit joiner - great piece of kit.

As many sizes and types of clamp as you can find room for!

I have to confess to having a lot of workshop equipment, both for metal and wood.
After a drilling machine, the most useful general purpose tools are a belt and disc sander (which is just as useful for metal and wood) and a decent metal working lathe.
