Hi my jupiter 30 of 1967 vintage has a built in fuel tank in the bilges. my question does anyone know how many litres it holds have tried the owners website but they dont reply. It was a boat built in Denmark in the 1960 s
Thanks for that but the tank is built into the hull in other words when you go below you walk on the top of it [the floor is the top of the tank] must be a good idea as the boat is nearly 50 years old .When i cross the channel i make sure i am full and when i return i pop into Dover and fill up again normaly approx 50 litres but dont know how far i can go before fuel becomes critical.I do carry spare fuel but red in drums is illegal across the channel .Just thought someone must have owned one of these fine boats in the past
She states 500 Litres of fuel, but if it is the same mould used as the Apollo 32, you should have approx. 480 L useable... I had an Apollo 32, with twin installations and the fuel pick up on Starboard engine did draw air when 480 L was used underway @ 14 knots (deliberate trial on a calm day in the fjords of Norway)... stopped, filled up with 25L, vented system and went to fuel berth (burning approx. 10L).... filled up with 465 L and also verified every 50 L on the dipstick in the cockpit, which was then verified as accurate....
Yes it looks almost the same but is a bigger version.Did yours have a single tank moulded from the main engine bulkhead to the forward accomdation .When i purchased the vessel it took a while to find the fuel tank .The brokers said it held 28 gallons thats 14 galls per engine i a sure that cant be right regards jeff
Yup... single tank ... moulded from fwd engine room bulkhead going aft. Fuel risers at fwd section in a square section at front of tank, with dipstick piped in virtually 15 Cm from first step down to fwd accom. Fuel fill on port side, more or less next to helm position, with vents lifting above fuel filler level behind engine air intake shield ...
28 Gallons is only 126 L, so cannot be right (I hope ) ... the Jupiter in the ad I sent you stated 500L ...
Yes that sounds more like it your description is spot on 100 galls would give me a much better cruising range.nevertheless i will still carry some drums just in case regards jeff
I recall that the Apollo 32 did have a 180 L water tank, so if in the same location (Moulded down in keel, approx. galley position and forwards), then the two tanks could have been mixed up, so she may have 360L fuel...
Yes its the same boat but mine has not got a rear cabin .The water tank is moulded into the hull up forward on mine and is huge so much to say when i was filling it up for the first time i thought i was going to sink the boat and had to check below. That boat states that it has two fuel tanks but mine has only one .Thanks for your help Jeff
