I have a petrol inboard in my boat.
And most ychts of around 30ft will only fill up once or twice a year.
The reason for diesel engines is not because it is cheaper but people are paranoid about petrol in boats.
And as for the more expensive market.....i think not. The parts i but for my boat and it's not many as i make most of my own do not come from the same supplier as you will buy.
Anyway there are 3 or 4 times more yachts to every power boat (excluding small outboards).
Also i have never had a tow in from a power boat. I believe that if you can't fix it yourself and you can't sail home then you shouldn't be out there.
And as a final note..in yachts power is not that much of an problem....i have a 12 hp petrol and i use about 3 times as much as a 10hp diesel does for the same speed.
So now you can shut up as i have explained away all your silly views
