Have a JRC 1500 radar on my Nonsuch 26 in Puget Sound, works fine but for fogging of the glass cover of the LCD display. Sent back under warranty, JRC replaced clamshell case but still fogs in cool humid conditions (such as we commonly have in the Pacific NW). Any others experience a similar problem and how was it solved?

Not being familiar with your unit I put this suggestion forward with some hesitation. Is there some way you can get one of those small sacks of Silica gel crystals inside the unit?

I have not opened the display case but now its out of warranty I will. One possible cause of the problem may be a design flaw
in that the long sides of the display clamshell are unsupported and bow resulting in a poor pinch of the gasket. I recall from
earlier days that it was better to allow electronics to "breathe" rather than go for an airtight seal, ie a small bore pipe cemented
into the case and curved down to avoid rain and spray entry. This would relieve the atmospheric pressure differences that are
perhaps causing condensation to enter.
