Has anyone installed this radar on a sailing boat and found a neat way to overcome the difficulties of negotiating the enormous cable to display unit plug down the mast, through the deck etc without destroying the boat? I'm thinking of cutting the cable and reuniting it below deck at a terminal block or a dismantleable plug. Suggestions welcome.

Yes, cut the cable, and use a watertight connector block under the deck .

I did it with my JRC 1500 on the advice of the supplier, and it works fine. Good luck.

Hmmm, can I have your....

...opinion about this radar? I´m looking around for a new one and the JRC 1500 is one on my list.

Index marine market a junction box specifically intended for radar cables. It has a 24 way terminal blocks and 2 x 15mm cable entries.

The JRC1500 is included in our technical guide and system spec comparison in the "techtips" section of our website.

I installed this set on my power boat and had to negotiate some small hole and tight bends. The cable can be unplugged at the radome end. This end is much smaller and is the sort of plug that connects to a circuit board.

Good Luck.
