I once came close to buying a Jouet 1040. I was quite impressed with the design and construction at the time. I ultimately decided I didn’t want a boat with sail drive transmission,
Bit of confusion here. The shaft seals do not need regular replacement, and indeed most never need replacing at all.Hi Arcady , one of my fellow birth holders has a sail drive on his yacht , he is a first boat owner like me . He was recently informed the seal needs replacing every five years , haul out , engine out etc . Mines a Volvo penta 2030 B , 1300 hrs on her , when I had the shaft seal replaced a very kind mechanic fitted a sure safe after explaining the pro and cons of these seals , he also fitted a spare seal on the drive shaft so I can replace the old one , “ 5 years life span “ so I’m told .
