Joining a mast using a sleeve?

How do we join a mast using an internal sleeve. We need to join our keel-stepped mast just below deck level. I know that a mast can be joined using an internal sleeve, but cannot find any information on just how this is done. What is normally used as a sleeve, how long the sleeve should be in relation to the diameter of the mast, the number of fixings to be used, etc. Technical information or advice would be greatly appreciated. I sugest that you contact the mast manufacturer. They are the ones most likely to have the parts and be able to recommend a suitable riviting plan.
