Mr John A. Bennett seems to be a bit of a legend in boating circles - I understand he designed a number of Boats (including my Fairline Holiday).

What else did he design ??
What do we know about the man ??

I think he's still going strong. He's done loads of planing hulls like the Broom offshore (OS) hulls, some Sealines, some Atlantics and Colvic hulls that have been used for Beaux Bateaux, Admiral, Humber etc
I believe he even fields phone calls if prospective owners want info on boats using his hulls

Ah, but proper Targas have a workmanlike character and their obviously sturdy looks are proven when out in bigger seas. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif
Not sure how to describe the character of a jelly mould /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Re: Mr John A. Bennett(we are not worthy)

Funnily enough, was in London this week, and happened to have lunch with one of my peeps in a location which faces right onto Thames. Watched the Botnia Targas bombing up and down (Police use them). They are nippy craft without a doubt, but oh dear lord are they ugly. Even though I love their seakeeping go anywhere qualities, it's not a craft that you'd fall in love with for it's sex appeal. More a bonding of minds and partner in life.

Depends very much on what you are trying to pull.

Salcombe fuel barge, Yes.
Gorgeous blonde 21 year old bimbo, No.

Mind you good handling cars like good seakeeping boats, come in all shapes, i.e. porsche, etc, but none of em look like a Lada or Fiat Panda.
