As per the title, Nick Burnham has just posted a new video meeting Jim on his boat, a Princess 61. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised at how knowledgeable Jim is and his passion for boating is infectious. And he’s funny and self deprecating.
I found it a good watch.

In 1985 I was on a Bayliner 45 flybridge at SBS. Jim Davidson was looking around in the wheelhouse. He noticed the very wobbly single pedestal table got hold of it and gave it a good shake and said "perfectly ok yesterday"

One of the funniest blokes I've ever seen live. Shame his brand of non PC humour is out of fashion in this woke world. Also a shame he's been shafted by 5 women although I suspect he was not entirely innocent in that :D

I knew he was into his boating and he's certainly done a great job refitting that Princess 61 and I think he makes an excellent point. Buying an older boat and refitting it to your personal taste makes a lot more sense than paying through the nose for a newer boat and watching it depreciate by £££s

Met him years ago in Brighton.

Always like his humour but even in person he couldn’t let it go. Had a great couple of hours - I seem to remember hurting from laughter.

He is massively supportive of the armed forces and has been brilliant in helping those with PTSD. He’s no saint, but if ever there was someone who epitomised having his ‘heart in the right place‘ it’s him. Great to see this video - thanks to longjohnsilver for signposting it.

When I was in the Army we all had tours from our unit down to the Falklands in the 80s. A colleague of mine drove Jim around when he was there on a comedy tour. Several years later one of my wife's friends lived with him for a while. Small world!

I enjoyed the video yesterday and I think Nick did a good job interviewing him too. Jim is a good bloke for his support of the Armed Forces and proper funny too. (shocked he didn't start saying "nick nick" lol)

I’m a yachtie but thoroughly enjoyed the video. Jim comes across as a really nice guy and so knowledgeable too. Well Yachtmaster certs don’t get issued for the asking! As to his sense of humour? It’s only offensive if you’re looking for a reason to be offended. Otherwise just enjoy his slant on life, whether you agree with it or not. Nobody gets hurt, do they?

Hands down the best Aquaholic video so far. (y)

Can't agree with Jim on his 2004 Princess being an "old boat", though.
Mid noughties boats are in many ways the last of the best, before minimalist Ikea style took over - pretending it was fashionable, but for the one and only real reason of cutting costs. Which reflected also in basic construction corner cutting, btw.

Otoh, it was nice to hear that the captain of a type 45 destroyer suggested him the very same thing that I've been saying for ages!
