JFM - you have met your Match !!!

........................(Hurric and I - both being olde codgers:) - would agree on the big points like tankage, stabilisers, etc .....................

Hurric agreeing to stabs? Have I missed something recently? :):)

Ooooh......a plan in the making? :D

No, I'm going to jump in right now before this gets out of hand.
If we could afford a new boat, our boating would have to change significantly.
Our berth in Sant Carles is just about big enough for the current boat.
Anything bigger would mean a bigger berth and I would then ask myself if Sant Carles is the right place for such a boat.
We are the biggest motor boat on the pontoon side of the marina anyway.
We might get away with a hammerhead but our current berth is probably the best in the marina.
We really get to use our side cabin windows - the sun rises up over the lagoon straight into our bedroom.
A bigger boat would mean a different berth and probably no views.

So, all sorts of things would come into play.
We would probably move away from SC.
So I thought about that - moving to (say) Mallorca.
But we have such a great set of friends in Sant Carles that I would miss their company.
Yes - we would probably make new sets of friends but Sant Carles has such a varied social atmosphere.
We all get along - yachties and motorboaters.
No - a new boat would be a very big step - not just the boat itself - but the whole boating experience would change.

And - Oh yes - we can't afford a new boat anyway.

But - I suppose - If it were a new boat stabs would be included in the spec - probably fins not gyros.
Fwiw, at 24m I agree, even on a P boat. Up to 20 or so, I'd rather have a gyro - particularly on 30+ knots vessels.

Regardless, I'd suggest to sign the dotted line PDQ.
Now that you wetted our appetite for build threads, you don't want to disappoint the asylum by missing the 2016/2017 winter, dontcha? :D :p

PS: I posted this before reading your last post - and jokes aside, I can fully understand your comments, and couldn't agree more.
Aside from the last line, that is. Since when affordability has been a parameter for a boater....?!

Mapism I know that you are such an EN perfectionist that you won't mind me mentioning this: it's whetted not wetted. :). To whet means to sharpen, though in modern EN it exists only in the phrase "whet your appetite". I can't imagine saying I'd whet anything else

thanks for the early morning EN lesson J, I also thought it was without the h...

cheers

V.

I'm probably completely wrong on this but isn't the same word (whet or wet?) used to describe a sort of 'running-in' period of a, say, apprentice or a trainee. As in teaching someone both the official and unofficial ways of getting things done.

Even though textures seem to be back, I don't like the cushions on the first pic either, btw.

Ummm. Can't recognize this context. However, have sent the odd apprentice to the stores for a long weight (wait) or a long stand. :D

It was a rocker cover for an E93A in my early days in the motor trade, this will only be understood by senior members :)

Hurricane: Well said you have your priorities spot on IMHO.

I was going to apologies for thread drift but it does not seem to be appropriate with this one.

'Course I don't mind, thanks for the hint! :encouragement:

Trouble is, since you can't count on Hurricane anymore, you'll have less leverage with Princess for customization...
...but if you think that a forum plea for an epic build thread could move them, count on us!

It was something that I thought I'd heard somewhere used in a situation where someone would be described as being wet behind the ears and the expression I was referring to would have been the act of de-wetting those proverbial ears, ie. teaching the tricks of the trade. Must have got it wrong though, thanks for clearing it up for me :encouragement:.

A fine example of thread drift, from an ad for a BHS oulet sale to a homophone lesson!:encouragement: Don't you just love this plaice:cool:
