Jeanneau Sun 2500 steering

I just had a look at a Sun 2500 that's on the market. the boat is in the water in a marina and hasn't been used for some time. I tried pushing the tiller to and fro but it was very stiff. The owner said that this was partly due to weed/lack of use but that the steering is quite stiff anyway. Does anyone with experience of these boats know if this is a major problem with these boats?

Had the same problem with the through deck tiller bearing on my SF 26, Had to use excessive voce to steer. Tried machining bearing out slightly as nylon bearing appeared to have swollen. Seems the only cure was to order new part. Been fine since.
