I would like to help me compare theese two boats

- Positives
3cabin version vs 2cabin
42ft vs 40ft
4.16m vs 3.78
Cummins qsb 425 and as I read are top engines vs Volvo d6 375
11kva generator vs 7.5kva
Layout of fly at Jeanneu is better
Platform area is bigger at Jeanneu
Design I think is better too
A lot of storage under the deck
Perfect condition like new the boat that I have see to buy

-Negative
The cheapest is at 180.000euro!!
Very expensive but if someone dont want very old 40-42ft boat I dont think that there are other choices cheaper.. Except Cranchi!
Azimut 42 is cheap but old
Azimut 42 is very nice but more expensive
Fairline 40 Phantom without reason very expensive

So lets talk about the other choice

-Positives
It is newer design too
It has new engines too.. D6
And finally it is a fly too Haha
The price of one that I have see is 130.000

-Negatives
Ok it isn't neither so big nor so nice shape nor so good looking like Prestige


Conclusion
There is 45.000 euro difference that it is a lot!! I like more Prestige but Cranchi is a fly and new too. I am coming from a small 33ft boat and I am thinking that after 1-2 years that I will learn the fly boat I would like to buy 46-50ft boat. If I didnt fear I could do it now. But I prefer to start from 40-42ft max!

I am waiting your opinions !!

If you have in mind to sell on one day surely look for what’s popular in your local market . I don’t think I would want a Cranchi in a uk market but many in Italy like plastic fantastic boats. Lots of mobo experts out there but you might look at owners websites for each marque to see what issues exist.

+1 see whats popular in your area.
however - there are a lot of Cranchi 40s about - it is a very popular model. Don't discount older ones with the excellent Volvo 63P. lovely engine, good intercooler designs, very simple, easy and cheap to maintain. If you are thinking of going bigger again in a few years a cheaper boat is usually easier to sell if its in good condition.

re going bigger - going from a 33' boat to a 46 or even 50' boat sounds like a leap. The first few times you get onboard it seems huge and potentially difficult to handle. But the good news is the bigger they are the less they get blown about and they are often easier to handle as a result. If the boat has bow and a stern thruster that makes life really simple.

What about the Rodman 41 fly? They’ve got 3 cabins, Volvo Penta IPS engines, joystick & galley “up” layout. They’re the same sort of yr as the jeanneau and cranchi & they’re around the £150k mark. A good alternative I say

Where are you proposing to keep it ?
It’s residuals are reflective of its location .
A narrow beamed Cranchi depending of location could be the decider in terms of berth availability .It will certainly be a group of 2 lower than the Jeaneau.

Additionally the aged Jeanneu could be a money pit in terms of the thin veneers of teak on plywood everywhere .
Take a look at the edges / border treatment of the “ wood “ decks and compare the colours of that” wood “ ( what ever it’s suppose to be ? ) of other prospects .

Have you been on board either ?

You might be completely oblivious to built quality, fit n finish relative to other stuff parked nearby in a marina .

Regardless of a paper comparison......you may just know within 10 mins of stepping on board , that’s why I asked .

Yes I know that with bow and stern it will be maybe easier. Also I will add dockmate for more easier control of the boat.
As about engines ok 63P is good but D6 is newer engine. Also I prefer a newer boat.

Rodman is nice boat. I don't think nicer than Prestige. What do you think?
Rodman are even more expensive. IPS is the only advantage that I can see but ok this shit you pay it at service very expensive. I think that a dockmate can make the boat easier than IPS. There is also a new Dockmate version TWIST that can make the boat the same moves like IPS with the use of bow and stern together with the engines. But I think that I can do the job just with the normal dockmate. The wireless use of controls and the bow/stern use I think that will be enough

I am from Greece so I will keep in a marina here.
I don't have problem with the beam at the marine.
The outside teak of Jeanneu is solid.
The inside wood I don't know but the varnish look perfect condition while Cranchi has whitenning points. As most of boat that I have seen (Azimut Fairline Princess). Presige varnish is like new.
I stayd at Prestige for 3 hours and I felt that build quality and the fit n finish are great. I compared with other boat like Azimut Princess Cranchi Fairline and the Prestige looks great.
Also as I stepping on board it was amazing that it is silent. No crack noises like others.
I don't write all theese because I like more Prestige. I prefer to change my money and keep my money haha
I wish to can see worse build quality but I cannot see it! If you believe the opposite please give me details.

Yes it has.. The flight design is the worse in this boat.
It is like a car...
Big sofa for driver and codriver
And at the back there is another sofa for other 2-3 people.
Back of that sofa sun pad.
No U shape sofa to drink a coffee with your company like most of fly boats at that size.

Hkikis, I don’t know which is the best boat. But when I read your posts it’s obvious that you like the Prestige better! If you pick the boat you like the best you won’t go wrong (just make sure you get a full boat and engine survey first)?

IMHO Prestige motor boats have always seemed like very good value for money. I would not consider a Cranchi because it reminds me of the munchies..

Yes I like more Prestige because it is better.. But when something is better is also more expensive haha

I have to choose between 175.000euro and 130.000euro

And both are flys both are almost the same size but not the same.. Almost the same thing but not the same... But the price isn't almost same... It is huge difference!!

But the truth is that at yachtworld you cannot find cheaper than 175k the Prestige and also you cannot under 130k a Cranchi 40 2007+

So maybe the prices are both decent and both boats are at the cheapest prices of the Europe right now. So both boats deserve that money.

So I need to believe that the better points of Prestige deserve 45.000euro more. And that money are a lot money!!

So if you was me what you would choose ?

If it was me looking for a boat in order of priority:
1) I would be looking at engine access. How easy/difficult is it to get at all the service points?
2) hull construction - I prefer a solid fibreglass hull
3) fuel tanks, what are they made from? do they have sumps and drains?
4) quality of installation of the cables,pipes, wires etc. Is it tidy. Is there clearly some design to it all ?
5) quality of fittings and fixtures, Anchor and chain size, Stainless steel work
6) layout - are all the cabins usable
7) flybridge layout
8) what does it look like - do I like the design overall?

So for me I would probably pick the Cranchi over the Jeanneau.
But if I was looking, I would have a good look at a Rodman 41, 44' long, well made and has 3 cabins.

Have you seen both boats really?

4) Quality of installation... All the cables at the Prestige are made like robot made. There is an access point at the second cabin in a place of all electrics and they are so tidy. I have never seen something like this.
5) Quality of fittings fixtures.. Ok all we know that all Cranchi boats dont have the best quality.. At all interior materials Prestige wins.
6) 2nd cabin of Cranchi is 2 small beds. It cannot convert to 1 big! Prestige has 2 smalls and the outside is sliding and it can be converted to 1 big.
Prestige has also 3rd cabin.
7) Cranchi fly layout is like a bus.. Noway to put a table and drink a coffe with your friends.. I upload some fotos to see the difference. Also the sunpads of fly at the Cranchi is under the rear sofa.. Down to the fly ground.. At the Prestige at the rear the sofa is convertible to be full sun pads or to have a huge U shape sofa.


Thank you that you try to make me keep 45.000 euro in my wallet but if you have seen both boats I cannot understand how you could choose the Cranchi..

Except if you choose it to stay with the 45.000 haha

i have owned both, A Cranchi 48 and a Prestige 36.
The Cranchi had a much better spec in terms of equipment and both were good at sea.
Quality, that's a difficult one as both were ok and hard earring but not up to UK boats in my HO.

I had an issue with P36 with the hull so I would say the Cranchi was better built but both were great boats.

Very narrow platform for tender at Cranchi... The Cranchi is 3.84 instead 4.18 the Prestige. Except of this af the platform they design it more narrow. NOT at the boat line like Prestige..

I prefer Cranchi steps.. They give huge glass doors instead of Prestige..

No one can tell you how to spend €45,000. But it would buy you a Seakeeper Gyro?
