We are thinking about purchasing a Jaguar 22. We are looking for a reasonably stable boat that is fun to sail. Are there any Jaguar 22 owners with useful comments on the characteristics of this boat?? Thanks

I've had a 1979 one for last 3 years, very stable and forgiving, nice as dayboat, forget about using for overnights, too small below. Cockpit very large for overall length. Very solid construction.

Good little boat - a lot of them were sold as kits for home completion, so interior quality may be variable.

Other alternatives in the same mould

Seal 22
Jouet 680
Hunter Sonata

Different to the 21 as it is a Catalina 22 moulded over here. Designed for the great Lakes so some might find them tippy. Not designed for sea water and the lift keel mechanism has had problems with corrosion and keels falling off. I personally know of one to which this has happened. I think, but may well be wrong, that Catalina issued a note about precautions to take around their use in salt water.

I think the original poster may have bought a boat by now as the post is 3 years old.
