Jabsco sea toilet
Does anyone know how to sort my problem?
Having serviced my sea toilet with the correct service kit I get bounce back resistance when I pump out to empty the bowl. I don’t get the resistance when flushing, only when emptying the bowl.
Thinking I had reassemble it incorrectly I took it apart and carefully followed the instructions, no difference. I have tried pumping furiously and filling the bowl to the brim from a bucket, thinking it may be an airlock.
Please help I’m running out of ideas.

Download the manual for your toilet, look at the parts diagram, and make sure everything is in the right place and the right way up.

Edit: PS Welcome to the forums!

The lever that turns to the right is not releasing the valve. That means that you have not re assembled the bit at the top correctly or you are not pushing the lever to the right enough.
I suggest that you take the top off & check that you have the thing assembled as per the instructions.
It is some time since I last did mine but i made the same mistake once.

Is the outlet sea cock open ? .

Have you fitted the "joker valve" incorrectly ?

Surely the position of the wet bowl / dry bowl lever has no effect on pumping out. It only determines whether or not flush water is pumped in.

Thanks for the reply, I’ve had it apart twice with no change.

I am sure what Daydreamer and Plum have said is correct

When you move the lever to the dry bowl position it is not lifting the outlet valve . Maybe you are not moving the lever fully to the right. maybe someting is broken or incorrectly assembled

Check that the finger #20 which should lift the valve is not broken or damaged in any way and that it will move freely when the external part # 23 is operated
( is #23 fitted to #20 correctly?)

Actually, it is possible to miss-asemble item 20. The end with the square drive goes in at a slight angle then drops behind a little ledge before the O-ring is fitted and the lever 23 engaged onto the square. If item 20 does not completely drop behind that ledge it will not be concentric and will not rotate correctly and therefore will not lift the valve correctly when operating the lever 23.

Been their and done that . The lever sometimes sprung back a little - same result

it sounds symptomatic of a blocked inlet pipe. Do you have a filter in the line between the seacock and pump? I once managed to suck up some weed which produced a blockage at the inlet to the pump assembly. The return (downward) stroke of the pump handle performs two simultaneous actions. It pumps effluent out through the joker valve whilst sucking in seawater from the inlet seacock. An outlet blockage or obstruction of the seawater inlet can produce similar symptom. If the unit’s lever is moved to the right (pump out only) and works with little resistance that tends to point to a blocked inle.
Mike.

As has already been pointed out to me the OP says there is no resistance when flushing..... only when trying to empty the bowl.
The inlet cannot therefore be blocked ( nor can the outlet).
