overhaulin' my jabsco pump this winter. (dog drive version, perkins 4108).

I have a question about the face plate of the pump. Upon removal the inside is not flat but recessed in the way of the impellor arc.

I cant tell if this is wear in the face plate or supposed to be like this. I remember a little jabsco pump on a petter mini6 that my dad had when I was a kid - that face plate was meant to be flat and we used to lay it on some 1200 grit wet'n'dry on a flat surface to remove the wear and return it to a flat surface.

my current somewhat larger (perkins 4108) jabsco pump has got me confused as the 'wear' (if thats what it is) seems just too perfect to be caused by the impellor vanes. the edge is crisp and bevelled.

So my question is, should all jabsco pumps have a flat inside to their face plate or are some intended to have a recess?

thanks as always

turn the plate over it will be ok.
also check the wear plate at the other side of the impellor, you will need to remove the cam device from the body to remove the plate

theres plenty of meat on the plate. I'll keep the writing on the outside. I could easily make the thing flat again, Im just not sure if I should. Im overhauling for a water leak- shaft seals, the thing was pumping very healthily.

Im worried about flattening it if its not supposed to be so as this would/could make the plate come into contact too heavily with the impellor vanes and cause undue wear friction etc.
