Every year about this time I start to feel really down...its dark early, its cold and wet and I HATE IT.
All the plans I had made for the year dont seem to have happened and its only now that I realise there is only 2 months left until the next one and more unfulfilled plans....
Am I the only one?

You think you're bad, just wait until you're old and ugly like me. Last night they would'nt let me in the pub cos they thought I was guising. Care in the bloody community ... well let me tell you .. they do'nt care and there's no community ..

I did post a few weeks ago asking how people are affected by deep lows straight after a high! I suffer badly...every time! until the low levels off. I suppose I have a built in barometer. I can get a bit down with the dark nights. Back in the late sixties and early seventies, one of my nicknames was mr sunshine, it could have been my ginger afro....oh happy days... dont bogart that joint myfriend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John, I'll look after the boat for you while you work - you won't have to pay me a huge wage if I live aboard /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Well...... for one.... sail the Asymmetric on Saturday as well...... 2 days sailing should at least result in one breakage of some kind, so you can spend Monday to Friday shirking away from the day job trying to get it sorted before the next weekends sailing... at least thats what I try to do /forums/images/icons/wink.gif....

Re: S.A.D.

is for the young. When you get older you'd be more depressed if your plans have worked out cos that'll be a novel situation and you've only yourself to blame. You won't have time for moods cos you'll be paying for your childrens luxurious lifestyle.

Winter is the time when hardy sailors get to step back in time. A winter Wednesday in the Solent is like sailing was in the 50's. Racing men look forward to the Winter Series. A series you can actually win because all the hired guns have gone somewhere warm.

So don't be S.A.D. today. Things could be, and probably will be, much worse soon enough.

Or you could just scoot off to Australia.

<<9 WEEKS AND THE EVENINGS START TO GET LONGER>>

Even better news! The earliest sunset of the year is actually a little before the Winter Solstice, on about 12th December, I think. Sunrise keeps getting later after the solstice, for reasons that are explained quite well here.

I'm no astronomer, so will now sit back to await the hundreds of posts telling me that I am wrong. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
