Colin,s old volvo that is...have just struck up cilin,s old volvo penta 39 outboard and it run,s ok.. just an update as requested. thanks colin .On the down side the only part i require for it is a trasum bracket as this has a frature.Anybody know where i can get a second hand item from????.The number on bracket is
nr.033142983.uppsala-sweeden.

Cor that was quick and well done. I'd never have got round to messing about with it. Had it for about 2 years and couldn't quite pluck up any enthusiasm to fix it.

Wonder if any other type of transom bracket would fit or could you get it welded?

There are very cleaver welding blokes in most towns. Just need to fish them out. Just ring your local engineering guy, and then another. You'll find a guy that can weld most anything to another. And all for a few quid.
