Isles of Scilly

The Scilies are absolutely magic. Been twice (40 years apart) both times on a cat, but never been to St Mary's. I could wax lyrical about walking round the islands etc... but best expressed by my photo album here

Scillies

This was first week in Sept 2006

As an ex Scillonian myself, cant agree more with Pete.. .. and to add my own bit - if it blows, get into saint marys harbour on a visitors mooring.. you will be fine.
If you want to try your hand at pilotage, go for it.. there are also the local launches that go to the islands, round island light, bishop rock light etc, far less hassel if you want a day out. A lot of the restaurants on St marys are ok, but not brilliant, the off island ones are mostly good. My favourite is the turks head on Agnes.. (We dont like paying silly prices !).. and there ARE some crazy prices around.
Dont know what its like now but the Pilots Gig on st marys near the mermaid (another great pub) was always good.
Loads of Mackeral about too for goodly noshes.

Stock up on Beer n Wine n food for on board on the mainland if possible, prices are more on the scillies due to transport costs.

Have fun.
Joe

A little addendum there - you will be fine on a visitor's buoy in St Mary's as long as you are under 30 ft LOA.

I still have the scars where the next buoy to leeward gouged lumps out of my topsides.
