Anyone here up at Newport for the festival? Never seen so many yachts on the Town pontoons, good to see.
Don't visit Island Harbour in the tender for lunch or a pint, it's £50 to tie it up...better go into Newport, the best chippie in town is Oggie's by the old town hall, and for a pub any of the old ones in historic buildings will be fine. Have a great weekend!

Trust you have a lovely weekend for those enjoying the delights of Newport’s fleshpots - hopefully the French Franks is still trading in the square for a sandwich etc for lunch -we will be at Soton so will miss the delights of the medina but await further news of the oysters.

We are at Island Harbour and it is packed with boats, RVs AND campers, even tents aside the footpath to the Folly. We don't need to get any nearer than here in our home berth as we hear it all clearly. Red Arrows were a treat as ever.

We use Newport Fish and Chips in High street as they cook to order as well as deliver, piping hot in 30-40 minutes and we have no transport. They also do pizzas, pies, chicken and burgers etc as well, always good.

There's a big raft of gin palaces in the middle of the river; the parsimonious owners have rafted-up aground near the rowing club, which gives them a good view of the main stage.
Very crafty...

Not often I say anything good about them but Redjet seemed to be managing the crowds well, at least as residents we were hustled on and off away from the masses yesterday !
Wouldn't advise trying to drive into Newport from Cowes though with the road alterations, the quarter mile of IOW motorway at Newport was rammed

Fascinating thread… always wondered what it was like in the Medina and the environs of the Festival site while it was going on ?

Looks like a very tame and polite crowd; anybody with tattoos, smoking drugs or p1ssed-up will almost certainly be a local :)

The old bill plus some commercial firm (Festimed maybe ) commenced running river patrols today, they looked a bit puzzled when the tide went out...

I remember watching the Rolling Stones headlining at the festival in 2007 for free from the foredeck of my Sailfish 18 while tied to a tree on the right bank of the river. The height of the stage and the height of the foredeck afforded an unobstructed view right across the security barrier and crowd. Unfortunately, I think the main stage is now angled away from the river.
