Is There An Undiscussed Problem With Coppercoat?

The first is that my boat has a lead keel and coppercoat wont stick to that metal.

Sticks just fine to our lead keel. Of course not directly - we used the recommended epoxy primer that AMC advised. I've just posted the first article in a series about my DIY Coppercoating in 2015 (and again last week, to raise the waterline ), which covers the preparation (including the priming of the lead keel).

So I believe that the problem is shore power.

As liveaboards, our shorepower is always plugged in where available, which causes no problems at all (no need to waste precious battery cycles when in harbour). But there is of course no connection between the shorepower ground and anything that isn't AC related. There's an RCD to protect us in case of dangling wires or dropping the Dremel in the water. This is a matter of some dispute amongst boat electricians, although if you ask me, it really isn't

That's encouraging BlueChip, although the Coppercoating, or not, of the saildrive is not at issue.

I guess that you are in a tidal area which might be a factor if there is any basis to this problem. ....

No, I am in Sutton Harbour a locked tidal marina, with very little flow.
FWIW I have a galvanic isolator and disconnect the shore power when leaving the boat.
I did notice that my anodes lasted for at least two seasons after fitting the galvanic isolator, whereas they only lasted 1 season before that.

May I ask which elements to you separate with the galvanic isolotar?
Is this galvanic isolotar a product which can be purchased or do you use only a certain material you put between the two elements you want to isolate?

I will see if I have something like this in my boat because it is originally built for 230V.
