Is the Autohelm 800 interchangeable with an ST2000?

I have an AH800 which is working fine but since im off next year on a trip single handed to Mallorca I want to buy a back up unit. So the question is does anyone know if the plugs are the same or will I have to change one or the other?

The AH800 ... if its the tillerpilot as mine (I have the 800 and 1000 models) were supplied with standard two pin Dri-Plugs, with a notch to make sure you connected right way round.
These plugs as available over counter. I would suggest making a conversion lead IF they have different connectors ... so leaving your on-board connection alone.

I upgraded last year and the plugs were different. It wasn't a huge task, though and the extra capability of the ST+ range is worth having.
Why not fit the new Autohelm and use the old one as back-up. You could mak an adaptor for it .

I believe the Raymarine ST2000+ socket is a five pin segmented circular affair (yyou can download manuals from the Raymarine site). I have an Autohelm ST2000 which has a three segment version. So, no - the sockets are not the same, but I agree with the other posts. Install the new kit and make up an adaptor to use the AH800 as a backup.

ST2000 has Seatalk, and the AH800 is stand alone, so the 2000 needs extra connectors and has a different plug. Cant see any problem putting one on the 800 to supply power for it though.

The ST2000 fits the pins and bushes used for a AH800, but the electric plug and socket are different. The wiring however is very easy to DIY. I did exactly this conversion on my centaur.

The plugs and sockets used on the ST autopilots are from the Bulgin Buccaneer range, obtainable from electronics suppliers (eg www.cpc.co.uk ) as well as chandlers. They come with different numbers of pins though, so make sure you get the right one (six pins I think but do check).
