Is it worth it ? Sink covers ?

To me, that outboard sink looks to be in an awkward position for working in and takes up very useable space between the cooker and the other sink. I think I'd be looking to make a cover which might fulfil several functions: place for hot pots/chopping board/draining board. So, make a cover from a heat-resistant material and cut drainage holes/slots round the edge, leaving the centre for chopping?

It all depends on the galley design and how much work surface you have. We have a large galley and lots of work surface. We don't need to make more. It's convenient having two sinks with one available to use and one covered for chopping work🙂
That’s what we do 90% of the time. Two sinks: one for washing up with a draining rack that neatly fits in the other sink. The chopping board fits on the sink leaving the draining rack underneath. What’s not to like?

True ... its not exactly ergonomic !!

The fold down taps indicate there is . was covers for the sinks

The fold down taps allow covers to fit flat

I asked previous owner and he said the original owner never had any covers ...

Built 1986 ... final fitting out by owner.

Sold on to second owner approx 4yrs ago ... who basically only sailed it in the Swedish Archipelago at weekends. He passed maintenance etc. to the Yard ...
He sold to me.

Anything I asked him technical about the boat - he said he didn't know .. all that he left to yard !!

Thanks for answering my stupid questions

Stupid ???? Who said that ? Certainly not me.

Every reply prompts thought ... and possibly thoughts never considered before ...

Guy who's repairing Superanne - he's renovating a Campervan as well. He looked and I asked him what he would do ...

He liked that a boat can use SW ... so his suggestion was to only cover the harder to use FW sink .. leaving the SW one for general hand washing / rinsing stuff etc. As he said - anything that makes people think before wasting FW is good ...

I am always being accused of 'lateral thinking' ... of thinking 'outside the box' ... nothing wrong with it at all ...

If I followed the 'conventional way' - I am sure I would still be an employee way down the ladder ... instead of always interested in new ventures / biz to get into as I now.

if people or mainly Engineering designers don't think outside the box and question convention there would be no progress in society and we would be still rubbnf sticks together to make fire and dragging heavy loads on skegs
