I crewed for a delivery trip, the boat owner/skipper thought I was enjoying sailing a little holiday. By the time we arrived, or rather put ashore 300 kilometers from our intended destination, he had made so many cockups, the boat had sufferred so many 'incidents' due to poor maintenance, and he had treated us to not turning up for his watch on time, being rude to us, and totally condescending towards us, that I decided I would never set foot on a boat with him again, so yes, how a crew sees their skipper is a reflection on their ability as a skipper.
