Is Cardiff bay frozen?

I don't know about the bay but Penarth Marina was about 50% frozen on Monday night when I went down to check up on my boat.

It has been very cold at Cardiff for sure, this is my boat on Tueday this week.

And this is today, still tick ice around the boat but starting to melt.

And looking up the river at CBYC.

Went down to Cardiff on the 24.12.10 CBYC still frozen but starting to melt, my boat is finally ice free at the water line. Still lots of snow about.

I did brush the snow off before I left.

I'm down on N, got the snow off the canopy and started on the rest untill the brush snapped and nearly slipped in so gave up (also was wearing trainers so feet were getting cold !!!?). Ice all around her but the water in the kettle wasn't frozen or the water in the bilges.

Doug - Jeekda II looked fine but did see one of the small speed boats on bend on the main pontoon had sunk.

Cheers

Stu

I was surprised to see portishead Marina frozen from end to end today. Apparently this is the first time this has happened. The Marina staff reckoned it was something like 3cm thick. I'm hoping that it'll melt soon so I can go sailing in the next few days.

I was supposed to be going out on Wednesday although that is now cancelled. Just as well by the sounds of it. My mobo is at the far end so a long way to go to get out! Hope it thaws enough for you to get out for a sail.

As the title says?

As of 1100 today (29 Dec) the swinging moorings were ice free.
Not sure about the Outer Berths (on the river) but all inside
berths iced in although most of the larger boats were floating
in their own "puddle". Some of the smaller boats (mainly mobos)
were beset. "Sea Doo" has been refloated. Bonny Mary (Skipper
still Flued-in?) cockpit dry, on marks with slight heel to
starboard. Lady Me and Jekeeda II as Stu left them.
No apparent problems with others between Bunker Berth
and "N".
Next intended visit Saturday (Grandson to Oppie Training).
Doug
