Is anybody going to Cannes?

I’m sure there might be a market for good quality used Porsche on the Côte d’Azur. A much bigger European market to source from and if you could tie it to servicing then a winner. Last time we had problems with the flat bug on the Côte d’Azur we went to Porsche Monaco!

It would be nice to experience some Med boating at some point but not as a commuter. I’d want to be based there for a while full time.

Actually, I did start Med boating as a commuter, and I can't say that I didn't enjoy the experience.
But that was just chalk, when compared to the cheese of actually living on the sea.

In hindsight, I can't believe I could stand the town lifestyle for decades...!

Not really, you can be rich, very rich but nowhere near superyacht rich. But it’s possible that a rich person would find it insulting to be given a cap and sent on his way.....

I think Rich is an interesting concept..... I think Rich people think they are more important than others. I am reminded of a Quote I once heard.


It is nice to be important but far more important to be nice.


Also something to point out is that most people sitting on super yachts and looking down are despised by those looking up at them so are they Rich you decide ?

As were we, particularly for the Asian market. My pet area of specialisation is fridge freezers. I was in heaven - full American double door jobbies with ice dispenser. Thought some of the bathroom fittings were poor though, straight out of cheap caravans.

The worst exhibitor of the show award went to a motor cat builder, Fountain Pajot. Their sales prevention police prevented us from viewing an empty motor cat with a bored sales rep standing idle on the back one day. When we eventually managed to get on the following day they refused to provide any indicative prices. Couldn’t tell you if they were €10 or €10 million so gave up. Hope they didn’t waste too much money being there......

Friday night got messy. I have carefully edited to avoid incrimination. The tequila shots after “breakfast” never happened.......

We had better luck with their Scandinavian dealer who showed us around the 40 and 44. The space is just fantastic. Price of the 44 was around 1 m€ with vat, iirc. The fact that they need to build two boats instead of one and still keep the price down to justify the comparison to similar sized mono hull, shows in many places. There were unfinished edges around the deck hatches, etc.

We also spent some time on Lagoon Sixty7 and Seventy8. Looking down from the fly helm station if felt like you'd be helming a tennis court. It is that big.

I also liked the Arcadia Sherpa for being so different. Not for the Scandinavian climate though...

3 days and still there’s stuff we didn’t see. Hell, there were whole shows we didn’t See

I may or may not have come across such people but you clearly have to suck up to them and doff your cap in order to earn a living Very sad indeed. Perhaps it is you that need to go meet some normal people

As it happens i don’t have to do any of the above ! I know many on here and I am not sure that normal means not having as much money as others ?

I went for lunch last Sunday with my daughter and a colleague in Cannes. Another person joined us and the conversation flowed, the jokes came out the odd silly phone gif was shown.

At the end my daughter asked if it was a Captain or work colleague as he was wearing shorts, T shirt and flip flops.

He then had to leave to catch the bus back to his house.

I explained that he is the owner of a 60+m motor yachts.....

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about caps (FWIW I happened to wander around SIBS wearing one from TO's firm yesterday and as a result had a pleasant conversation with a chap on the ASAP stand who used to work for them) but I personally deplore the apparent withdrawal of Fusion's Aliens from Earthly circulation.
